Trustees and Committee

Smarden Pre School has provided childcare for the village and local area for over 25 years in various formats.

We are proud to be an independent, parent and volunteer run setting.  In September 2017 we began operating as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) which means we now have a core of six trustees who deal with the setting’s day to day administration and are supported by a committee of fundraisers.

The setting itself is operated and managed by our excellent team of caring and enthusiastic staff.  All staff members have appropriate childcare qualifications, enhanced DBS certificates, are trained in paediatric first aid and undergo regular safeguarding training.

If you would like more information about becoming a trustee or would like to contact us directly please email trustees@smardenpreschool.org

Jessica Brogan

Trustee
Jess has been directly involved with preschool as both a parent and committee member since 2014. Her background as a chartered surveyor has been put to good use in helping to review the setting’s infrastructure, policies and establish the CIO.  Jess is the setting’s ‘Nominated Person’ for Ofsted purposes.

Melissa Dawkins

Melissa became a trustee in September 2018 having previously been on our committee. She is a preschool parent and owns and runs ‘Made in Ashford’ a collaborative shop of makers and designers in the Park Mall.  Mel’s business acumen, marketing and social media experience has been invaluable in helping to support and promote our preschool.

Kathryn Etheridge

Trustee
Kathryn became a trustee in September 2018 having previously been on our committee. She is a current preschool parent and has been instrumental in terms of her fund-raising efforts and support of various preschool events. Kathryn also helps run the weekly village baby and toddler group, which creates a seamless link to the preschool for prospective parents.

Samantha Rivolta

Sam has been a loyal supporter of the preschool for many years and a trustee since September 2017. As Head of Smarden Primary School and class teacher of the EYFS and Year 1, Sam helps foster a strong and mutually beneficial relationship between school and preschool.

Ailsa has been an integral part of the preschool for over a decade, ever since her own children used the setting.  She is an essential organising force behind the preschool and heads up the financial side of things. Ailsa also helped guide the preschool through its transition to CIO status and became a trustee in September 2017.
