Here at Smarden Pre School we will help your child play and learn at their own rate. We cover the mandatory EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) and will guide them through various stages of learning and development. We provide an open, inviting and stimulating play environment, where children feel at ease to explore and experiment.
Our children are encouraged to work things out independently and face challenges head on. In our setting it is ok to take a risk which enables children to evaluate, learn and discover in a safe and secure environment.
The EYFS areas covered are as follows:
• Personal, social and emotional development
• Communication and language
• Physical development
• Understanding the world
• Expressive arts and design
We use ‘Communication Books’ to log activities and provide feedback on daily sessions and where your child sits in relation to their Early Learning Goals.
Please note children will not generally meet their Early Learning Goals until the end of their Reception year in Primary school.
Alongside the EYFS we also implement and encourage the fundamental British values of democracy, individual liberty, rule of law, mutual respect and tolerance for those with different faiths and beliefs. These values are made accessible to the children via ‘Colin’s Golden Rules’ and our ‘Kindness Tree’.
